School Lockdown: Incidents of Violence Around Schools Continue

Lockdown School Alert

Two more recent attacks continue the trend of a rising number of incidents on school premises

Incidents this week have occurred at an academy in Scunthorpe and a school in Swinton, both involving knives being carried on school property.

At the academy in Scunthorpe, a female welfare office was attacked by a 16 year old girl, who was later arrested and charged with attempted murder and carrying a blade or pointed article on school property.

In Swinton, a 17 year old boy was stabbed at a bus stop. Shortly after, two boys tried to gain entry to a nearby school, but were stopped by staff and the school put in lockdown. Police were called to the scene, and discovered another boy in possession of a knife who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Both these incidents tie in with recent UK Police Forces reporting a surge in the number of young people carrying weapons in schools.

Having a Lockdown Alert System at your school can greatly increase security and communication for both pupils and staff. Whilst some schools still use a fire alarm to announce emergency situations, this goes against government recommendations for lockdown procedures. A dedicated Lockdown Alert System provides clarity, ensuring everyone across your whole school premises knows exactly how to respond in time-critical circumstances.

If you would like us to conduct a free site survey to see how our Lockdown Alert System can benefit your school, please contact us.
